1 Thessalonians 3:1–13 · NASB95
Key Verse
“For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 3:8Paul left Thessalonica under pressure, not by choice. He worried about the young believers he had been forced to leave behind — not because he doubted them, but because he loved them and knew the tempter was at work. So he sent Timothy, not because he could spare him, but because he could not bear not knowing.
When Timothy returned with good news — their faith was holding, their love was real — Paul's relief was total. He used the word reserved for preaching the gospel: that is how good the news felt. Your faithfulness became someone else's lifeline. Your standing fast gave your pastor the strength to keep going. Notice that Paul did not pray for their comfort or safety first. He prayed for their love to abound — and then for their hearts to be established in holiness. Those two things, in that order, are still the shape of a thriving faith.
