Romans 7:6The law could reveal sin, but it could never remove it. Believers now relate to God not through law-keeping, but through grace — not as employees trying to earn approval, but as children already loved.

“Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”
Romans 7:4 · NASB1995Paul uses a marriage analogy: just as death ends a marriage’s legal claims, “you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another” (Rom. 7:4). Your death with Christ ended the law’s claim over you as the way you relate to God, freeing you to belong instead “to Him who was raised from the dead,” and to bear fruit for God out of that new union rather than out of obligation.

2 Corinthians 3:11 · NASB1995Romans 7:6 names both what you’re free from and what you’re free for: “released from the Law” so that you might “serve in newness of spirit and not in oldness of the letter.” Galatians 3:25 pictures the law as a tutor whose job is finished once faith has come, and Romans 6:14 explains why sin’s power is broken along with it: “you are not under law but under grace.” Second Corinthians 3:11 adds the contrast in glory — if the old covenant, even as it faded, came with glory, “much more that which remains is in glory.” You now serve Him in “newness of spirit,” out of love, not fear of falling short.
