First Peter 2:20 and 4:12-13 both reframe unjust suffering as something that “finds favor with God” and lets you “share the sufferings of Christ,” while 1 Thessalonians 3:3 says believers “have been destined for this.” Romans 8:18 puts it all in perspective — present suffering is “not worthy to be compared with the glory” to come — and Colossians 1:24 says Paul could even rejoice in filling up “what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions” on the church’s behalf.
