33 Truths at Salvation for Every Believer

Light in the Lord

Key Verse: Ephesians 5:8  ·  NASB1995

Key Verse

“for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light”

Ephesians 5:8

What you were — darkness — has been replaced by what you now are. You are light itself now, not just someone who occasionally reflects it.

Also See

“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;”

1 Thessalonians 5:4 · NASB1995

Ephesians 5:8 doesn’t say you now merely see the light; it says “you are Light in the Lord,” with instructions to “walk as children of Light.” First Thessalonians 5:4 adds the practical comfort of this: “you are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief.”

Reflect

  1. Where in your life this week could you actually walk as light instead of just avoiding darkness?
