Jesus contrasts the two births directly: “that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6) — a life your natural birth never could have produced, because it was the Spirit’s own work.

2 Corinthians 1:22 · NASB1995A seal marked ownership and security in the ancient world. Ephesians 4:30 warns against grieving “the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption,” and 2 Corinthians 1:22 says God “sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.” The Spirit’s presence in you is God’s own guarantee that you belong to Him until the day of redemption.
